What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is defined as constantly varied functional movement performed at high intensity. Here at CrossFit IBC we embody that and take it even further. Every class is an hour long and structured with a coach-led warm-up, strength or skill work, and a MetCon. Beyond that, every class has a strong sense of community with friends who become family that are there to cheer you on every step of the way. Our CrossFit certified coaches are top of the line, with extensive knowledge in gymnastics and weightlifting skill work, and view anyone who walks through our doors as an athlete. Our gym believes anyone is capable of doing CrossFit, from kids, to pregnant and postpartum athletes, to our older generation.

Meet your Coaches

CrossFit in Greensboro athlete

Ian Nepaulsingh

Coach and Co-Owner

Ian originally hails from Albany, NY but decided he was over all the snow and headed down south. He was introduced to CrossFit in his brother and sister's garage when he migrated to South Carolina in 2014. He soon realized that he chose the wrong Carolina and moved up to Greensboro, NC in 2015, quickly becoming a CrossFit coach and now holds his CF-L2.

If you're driving down the road and hear a booming voice, you can probably guarantee it's him. There's no way you can miss that distinct yell, always pushing his athletes to keep going! "Helping others achieve personal goals, move efficiently/safely, and the family atmosphere are my why."

CrossFit coach in Greensboro

Casey Gleason

She’s NASM certified and has been individually coaching since 2007. “Teaching the importance of fitness and health is my goal, but to do it in a way that empowers people and allows them to believe in a what their body and mind are truly capable of is my absolute passion.”

Colin Latimer

Colin is originally from the Sunshine State of Florida, but moved to Durham, NC when he was just a child. In 2018 he began college at UNC Greensboro and in that time is when he found CrossFit. Since then he has never looked back. Colin loves all things gymnastics, but his favorite movements are burpees and handstand walks. Colin has a strong passion for helping others and watching members achieve their goals inside and outside of the gym walls.

With Colin there is no shortage of high fives or fist bumps when you do something awesome, so be sure to get yours. When Colin is not at the gym you can typically find him walking his dog Cooper or working as a firefighter for the City Of Greensboro.

Jess Trott

Jess was born and raised on Long Island, NY and started CrossFit back in 2011 in Bellevue, WA. Shortly after moving to Greensboro in 2015, she officially became a CrossFit-L1 coach. She loves to lift and finds CrossFit to be an amazing outlet and tool for taking athletes from where they are to where they want to be. One tough step at a time. She loves working out side by side and helping fellow CrossFitters reach that AHA! moment in their training. She genuinely wants to help athletes reach their personal goals and overcome things that once seemed impossible. Now after 8 years of coaching, Jess holds her L1, L2, and Weightlifting certifications. She is passionate about helping members improve themselves on their path to becoming mentally, physically, and emotionally proficient athletes. On top of being a bada$$ coach, she is also the bada$$ owner of her business, Organize With Jess.

Ariel Patrick

Ariel grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where she developed a passion for sport and the outdoors from an early age. She relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina for graduate studies after living in Durham for several years. Since joining her first box 2016, Ariel’s life has been transformed by the mental and physical challenges of CrossFit. Her favorite movements are any type of heavy grunt work like sled pushes, sandbags, and farmer’s carries—the grittier the better!

Ariel is a Level-1 CrossFit Trainer and NASM personal trainer, holds a CrossFit Aerobic Capacity certification and CrossFit Gymnastics certification, is a certified kickboxing fitness instructor, is CPR/AED certified, and is continuously working to expand her knowledge as a coach and athlete.

A former teacher, Ariel prioritizes individualized instruction and meets every member where they are and believes in making CrossFit accessible for everyone. She is driven by the desire to help athletes push the boundaries of what they think possible for themselves, both inside and outside of the gym.

Pat Sogla

Pat is a native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin where he played a variety of sports growing up. He was a three-sport athlete in high school and even swam a few years in college. His college swim coach introduced him to “this CrossFit thing” where he thought he might be a better fit, and in 2013 that’s where he started his CrossFit journey. His favorite lift is the clean and jerk and his least favorite move in CrossFit is box jumps. And he’s got the scars on his shins to prove it.

In addition to coaching CrossFit he is also an Athletic Trainer, where he has spent time in a variety of settings including a stint as the Head Football Athletic Trainer at North Carolina A&T. He now works at Greensboro Sports Performance where he still gets to work with a variety of athletes and active adults. He holds a variety of certifications, including Active Release Technique, Graston, dry needling, SFMA and RockTape, as well as his L-1. Whether it’s coaching CrossFit or working as an Athletic Trainer, his favorite thing is helping people feel better, move better and BE better.

Pete James.jpg

Pete James

Pete moved From South Africa to Greensboro to study in 2020. With a background in martial arts, he discovered Olympic Weightlifting 8 years ago and developed a passion for the technical and mental demands of the sport. He competed at the national level representing his province in 2018.

Initially using Crossfit to supplement his weightlifting training, Pete quickly got hooked by the varied functional movements and modalities, eventually switching over to Crossfit full time. His favorite workout would include a heavy clean and jerk and some form of gymnastics, preferably where he would be upside down.

As a USAW and CF Level 1 coach, Pete's focus is primarily on good movement quality. While he has a keen eye for weightlifting, his goal is to help you work smarter and not harder across ALL the movements you'll come across in a Crossfit class.

Berkley.jpeg

Berkley Trevino

Born and raised in Greensboro, NC, Berkley was first introduced to Crossfit in 2014, but it wasn't until 2019 that she fully committed to the sport. Since then, she has fallen in love with not only the physical challenge but also the strong sense of community that CrossFit provides. With a passion for strength training, her favorite lifts are all things squats—whether it's back squats, front squats, cleans or any variation that pushes her to new limits. As a coach, Berkley is dedicated to helping others discover the same joy and empowerment she's found through CrossFit. Berkley is excited to share her knowledge and experience to help others realize their potential, both inside the gym and beyond. When she’s not coaching, you’ll find Berkley working out alongside the 5am class- often considered the best class (though, of course, it’s a secret).

Justin F.JPEG

Justin Flannagan

Justin was born and raised in the Greensboro area. His interest in exercise was sparked at an early age through sports. Anything from Football, to wrestling, basketball, baseball, you name it!

Fast forward to 13 years ago, he was introduced to CrossFit and never turned back. He obtained his L-1 and began coaching! He has also competed locally at Olympic Weightlifting meets. Give him a heavy barbell any day!

His passion is showing that we are more capable than one can imagine. Seeing our members push past the limits they previously thought possible is amazing to witness
